The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned consumers that products marketed to remove moles, skin tags, and other benign growths from the body can be harmful. The FDA has received reports of people suffering serious side effects after using these products, including skin damage, scarring, and even cancer. While many of these products are available over the counter, the FDA is urging consumers to be aware of the potential risks before using them.

Health officials are warning consumers about a proliferation of products on the market that claim to remove skin tags and moles. The FDA has issued a statement saying that some of these products can be harmful, as they can cause severe burns, injuries and scarring.

Moles and skin tags are common, benign skin growths. Moles are usually black or brown and can be smooth or hairy. Skin tags are small, fleshy, soft growths that hang from the skin and may have a stalk. They are usually either pink or light brown. Most moles and skin tags are harmless, but it is important to have them checked by a doctor to be sure.

In the United States, there is currently no FDA-approved prescription or over-the-counter drug for the treatment of moles, seborrheic keratoses, or skin tags. But, there are some potentially dangerous products being sold that claim to help remove these lesions. These products are sold as ointments, gels, sticks, and liquids and may contain high concentrations of salicylic acid (a chemical) or other harmful ingredients that can cause skin irritation and dryness.

The FDA is advising consumers to avoid these products because of their serious risks and potentially harmful side effects! These risks could really affect your health in a bad way! These risks include skin injuries, infection requiring antibiotics, scarring, and delayed skin cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Do not treat the skin issue yourself

Anyone who has experienced a skin issue knows that finding the right remedy is key to making the issue disappear. However, many people turn to self-treatment before seeking professional help, and this can often lead to worsened symptoms and longer healing times.

Most of the time, these products don’t work any better than regular soap and water. In some cases, they can even cause irritation or other problems. So before you try one of these products, be sure to talk to your doctor about the best way to treat whatever skin condition you have.

Don’t be fooled by a product that claims to be natural or organic!

If a product is labelled as “natural” or “organic,” it doesn’t mean that it’s automatically harmless. In fact, many natural and organic products can still contain harmful chemicals. For example, a recent study found that almost half of all baby food labelled as “organic” actually contained high levels of arsenic. So, just because a product is labelled as natural or organic doesn’t mean that it’s safe to use. It’s important to do your research and read the ingredients list before buying any product.
